From Paro, we will proceed to the capital and historical city of Bhutan – Thimphu. Here you will encounter with several religious sites, local bustling markets, and several monasteries that includes: Buddha Dordenma , Tashichho Dzong and other religious sites.

Detail itinerary of Glimpse of Bhutan Tour – 5 Days
Day 01: Arrive in Paro and drive to Thimphu
Your beautiful journey begins when you arrive at Paro International Airport. The airport is popular for its stunning architecture and beautiful surroundings.
After landing, you will be greeted by the guide and other staffs. After all the formalities, we will take a scenic drive to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan. During the 1 to 1.5-hour drive, you will witness the lush green valleys, prayer wheels, stupas along the roadside, elegant villages, and scenic views.
Once you reach Thimphu, you will check into your hotel. After having some rest, you will have several popular options.

Day 02: Sightseeings in Thimphu drive to Punakha via Dochula Pass
After taking breakfast, we will begin our day exploring religious and cultural sites in Bhutan.
Buddha Dordenma Statue – one of the largest Buddha sites in the world, situated on a hilltop. It is a perfect place for photography. It also offers panoramic views of the Bhutan Valley.
Tashichho Dzong – It is a majestic fortress monastery and also the administrative headquarters of the Bhutan government. The architecture and temples are the major highlights of this site.
Memorial Chorten Museum – It is a sacred site built in memory of Bhutan’s third king. The locals often gather here for rituals and prayers.
Traditional Handicraft Market – It is a promising place to buy souvenirs, textiles, paintings, wood carvings, bowls, and more.
After exploring Thimphu, we will drive to Punakha. The journey offers beautiful views of lush valleys, terraced fields, and surrounding hills.
As we depart from Thimphu, the road gradually descends to the popular Dochula Pass, which has an altitude of 3,100 meters. It is a home to the 108 Stupas. On clear days, you will get the picturesque views of Jomolhari peak from this place.
After descending from the pass, we will arrive at Punakha after 3 to 3.5 hours of driving. We will have an overnight stay at Punakha.

Day 03: Sightseeing in Punakha and drive back to Paro
Day 3 Glimpses of Bhutan Tour begins with a hearty breakfast at Punakha. After taking a morning meal, we will begin our journey.
Punakha Dzong – Punakha Dzong is a promising site and also the main highlight of Punakha. Earlier, it was the administrative centre of Bhutan till 1955. This site is located at the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers, popularly known as the “Palace of Great Happiness”. This site also holds deep historical and spiritual significance.
Chimi Lhakhang – Chimi Lhakhang is a Buddhist temple in Bhutan. It is a pious place dedicated to Divide Madman, also known as “Fertility Temple”.
Punakha Suspension Bridge – The Punakha Bridge is the longest suspension bridge in Bhutan, spanning approximately 170-180 meters across the Pho Chhu River. From here, you will get the stunning views of the valleys, mountains, and surroundings.
Local Village Walk – After exploring the valleys from the suspension bridge, we will take a short walk in the local village and observe the traditional houses and daily life of Bhutanese rural people. If get time, we will also visit Talo Monastery located at an elevation above 2,800 m.
After sightseeing and cultural exploration, we will begin a return journey to Paro. The drive takes around 4 to 5 hours. During the journey, you will witness the lush valleys, forests, terraced fields, and elegant villages.
Upon arriving at the hotel, you will check into your hotel and take some time to relax and refresh. We will have an evening dinner at a local restaurant, and our day ends with a peaceful overnight stay.

Day 04: Hike to Tiger Nest Monastery (3,120 m) and Afternoon sightseeing at Paro
Today is the most fabulous day of the entire Glimpses of Bhutan Tour (5 days). After taking an early morning breakfast, our hiking journey begins towards the sacred Buddhist monastery named Tiger Nest Monastery, also known as Paro Taktsang or Palphung Monastery.
It has an elevation of 3,120 meters. It takes around 4-5 hours, depending on the traveler’s pace. The trail passes through verdant forests, prayer flags, and scenic viewpoints.
Along the way, you will also find a cafeteria for tea, coffee, and snacks. In addition, you will also see several scenic spots to collect pictures with your camera.
During the journey, your guides will also tell the story of Guru Rinpoche, who meditated in this place during the 8th century.
The hike is moderately challenging, but equally rewarding for the visitors. It will give you spiritual serenity and unforgettable memories.
After exploring Tiger Nest, we will descend and have our lunch. Upon that, we will have afternoon sightseeing in Paro.
Kyichu Lhakhang – It is one of the oldest and sacred Buddhist temples in Bhutan, established in the 7th century by the Tibetan 33rd King Yarlum.
Paro Ringpung Dzong – It is a magnificent monastery serving as a spiritual centre and administrative headquarters of the district. It is a popular tourist attraction, rich in history, and also known for the national festival like Paro Tsechu.
National Museum – National Museum of the Paro, also known as Paro Dzong. The places tell you the history, arts, origins, and culture of the Bhutanese people. It was established in the year 1649.
