Trip Information
Weather and Best Season
The climates of Nepal vary; spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November) are the most suitable seasons to go on a Honeymoon Tour in Nepal. These seasons are characterized by clear skies, hot days, and cool nights. Spring is full of blooming rhododendrons and festive cultural fairs, and autumn has the golden woods and mountain-scenery.
Monsoon (June-August) is rich, green, yet wet, and therefore some travelling is slower. It can be cold in the winter (December-February), particularly at night, but the lowlands are mild. The spring and autumn are sunny and pleasant with perfect weather to have a romantic outing and sightseeing.
It is always better to check local forecasts before traveling. A warm jacket, a layer of light, and a rain jacket are advisable so that you will be comfortable during your honeymoon trek in Nepal’s highland scenery. Winter does have good sunny days and clear skies, although a warm jacket is needed on a cool evening.
Food & Drink
Nepalese food will add taste to your Honeymoon Tour in Nepal. Breakfasts are mostly continental or local breakfasts and comprise eggs, toast, or porridge. Nepali cuisine comprises such popular dishes as dal bhat (rice with lentils and curry) and momo (dumpling), which you can have either at lunch or dinner.
The majority of the hotels have international dishes, and the local restaurants have spicy curries, stews, and snacks such as samosas, roti, aalu paratha, etc. You can take roadside foods such as sel roti (fried rice bread) or sip sweet masala tea.
Water and juice are common; tap water should be avoided, and one should consume bottled or purified water instead. Nepal tea (chiya) is a warm and yummy drink made of milk and spices. Cities have beer and wine. Dietary restrictions (vegetarian, vegan, etc.) are also possible, as most of the Nepali dishes contain vegetables and lentils.
The cuisine of Nepal depends on the region; thus, you will see fresh vegetables, yogurt, and local fruits on the menu. In case of drinks, cafes in Kathmandu and Pokhara serve good coffee and tea, though in the mountains, use bottled water.
Altitude Sickness and Suggestions
The highest point of the Honeymoon Tour in Nepal is Nagarkot (2,175 m), which is moderate. A majority of travelers will experience minimal or no impact. Nonetheless, we observe any signs of altitude sickness. Take a lot of water and do not drink alcohol, particularly on the first day in Kathmandu. Be mindful of your body: go at a slow pace, rest when you feel like it, and eat light food at elevated levels.
Our guides can slow down or go down in case anybody feels dizzy or sick. When dealing with high altitudes, medications like acetazolamide (Diamox) are not recommended unless taken under a physician’s guidance. Healthy eating, a sufficient amount of carbohydrates, and a good night’s sleep also work. Inform your guide of any symptoms before they become serious.
By making such simple steps and having a slow pace, most of the couples stay healthy and are able to see the mountain without any complications. Light pain, like a headache, can be soothed with simple pain relievers, which are usually necessary, but you should always notify your guide.
Visa and Permits
Visitors on this Honeymoon Tour in Nepal usually need a tourist visa for Nepal. A Nepal visa can be received by the citizens of numerous countries at Kathmandu Airport, or you can complete the online visa application form in advance to save time.
A thirty-day tourist visa will cost approximately US 50 (this may vary), and you will be required to have a passport which has validity of at least 6 months and two passport-size photographs.
In case you intend to go out after 30 days, then you are required to renew your visa at Kathmandu or Pokhara immigration offices at an extra cost. There are no special permits required during this tour since it remains in the well-travelled areas.
There are certain neighboring countries (for example, India) where special agreements apply, and no visa is required; it is always preferable to check your own visa status before travelling.
Always ensure that you carry your passport and visa documents. Carry copies of valuable papers and money as visa fees. The regulations of the visa are subject to change, and hence you should always verify up-to-date regulations before travelling.
Health & Safety
Generally, Nepal is safe for the traveler, and simple precautions will enable your honeymoon to run smoothly. Maintain current regular vaccinations (e.g., tetanus, hepatitis A, typhoid).
Only treated or bottled water should be consumed so as to prevent stomach upsets, and cooked foods should be consumed. Be prepared with a simple first-aid kit (bandages, pain relievers, altitude medicine, etc.) in case of minor problems.
Himalayan Adventure Treks will offer you clean accommodation and professional guides to make sure that you will feel safe. The roads may also be curvy and the traffic jammed; never forget to use seat belts.
Carry a hat and sunscreen – UV is high up. During the summer, a carrier of insect repellent is necessary (there is no malaria risk in the areas visited on this itinerary, but there may be mosquitoes). Bring your own medication (including any personal medication that is necessary) and a small amount of prescription medicine.
The healthcare infrastructure in Nepal is basic in non-urban areas; pre-travel check-ups are necessary. First-aid equipment and oxygen in case of necessity are carried by our guides. Do not take chances, take their advice.
In the villages, women are expected to dress decently and not walk out at night alone. The tap water must be purified at all times. Generally, Nepal is secure and hospitable, and with a dose of common sense, you can have a Honeymoon Tour in Nepal without worries.
Transportation
The Honeymoon Tour in Nepal explores the whole country by combining both a combination of private vehicles and domestic flights in order to maximize comfort and scenery.
The Kathmandu-Pokhara transfers are through brief scenic flights in a 15 20 seater aircraft, which save hours of road travel. In Kathmandu and Pokhara, there are private cars (jeep or van) that have experienced drivers who do tours of the city and short transfers.
Traveling within the city can sometimes involve rickshaws and taxis, which are decorated with colourful paintings, especially when the distance is very short. The Nepali roads are either narrow or winding, yet our skilled drivers will ensure your safety.
The time taken between cities on this itinerary is typically under one hour by airplane or about 6–7 hours by road. This package has all the domestic flights and ground transfers.
We travel in comfortable, contemporary cars (mostly SUVs) that have English-speaking drivers. In remote locations, transport is slower- anticipate picturesque travels. All in all, transport is well-structured to ensure that you are not bothered by transport when you are enjoying the natural view.
Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is strongly recommended for a Honeymoon Tour in Nepal, especially when you are visiting mountainous regions. Included in your policy should be emergency medical treatment, helicopter evacuation, and cancellation of the trip. Select one plan that covers high altitude trekking or flight coverage, or lost baggage and personal liability.
In Nepal, hospitals are capable of basic care, and in cases of serious cases, an airlift out of remote areas may be necessary. Make sure that you have insurance in Nepal and hold a copy of your insurance policy and emergency contacts. Most people use credit card insurance, in which case makes sure of the coverage.
Take into account repatriation coverage too. In case you go on any optional adventure activities (outside the standard itinerary), make sure that they are covered as well. Good insurance enables you to be carefree and concentrate on the romance, knowing that you are insured.
Your Extra Expenses
Personal expenses are items not covered in the package. These are lunches and dinners not included in the plan, soft drinks, alcoholic drinks, laundry, souvenirs, and any other optional activities or tours you would like to be included. It is expected to tip the guide and driver (guides 10-15 percent of the trip cost, drivers 5-10 percent).
Departure taxes in the airports (where applicable), telephone, and use of the internet can also be additional. Every covered service will be outlined, and you will be aware of what is covered. Budget on bottled water and local snacks on a daily basis. Purchasing a domestic SIM card or Wi-Fi can incur small amounts.
Additional costs will also be incurred when there are unplanned activities (such as an additional sightseeing or massage). All in all, you will have no problem enjoying any extras as long as you manage a small amount of cash.
Language & Communication
The official language is Nepali, although most people understand English in tourist destinations. Your guide will be a fluent English speaker who translates local expressions on the tour. Hotel employees, drivers, and shopkeepers in Kathmandu and Pokhara tend to speak simple English.
In the villages, they can talk Hindi or local dialects, but your guide will take care of the interpretation. Hotels offer free Wi-Fi, and mobile data is widespread in large locations (4G in urban locations, low in rural ones).
Most signs consist of Devanagari as well as Roman characters. It is welcome to learn a few Nepali words (such as Namaste, which means hello, and Dhanyabad, meaning thank you).
The Nepali currency is Nepalese Rupee (NPR); the ATMs and currency exchange are found in cities (bring some cash in the countryside). Carry a travel adapter (3/4 Nepal 230 V, Type C/D plugs).
Don’ts on this Trip
These are some cultural suggestions to remember. Do not publicly express love in villages (it is okay to hold hands). Do not point your feet at people or religious statues, and do not touch the head of a person.
It is always advisable to take off shoes and hats when visiting temples or houses. Do not walk into temples wearing shorts or tank tops; dress decently (shoulder/ knee covered).
Do not take pictures of individuals or rituals without any consent, and do not use drones without a permit. Dropping litter is not socially approved – bring a trash bag. Do not feed or tease animals in temples or on the roadside. Keep bartering and loudness to a minimum. Do not walk out on the highways in the dark or in lonely places.
Bringing or using illegal drugs is prohibited in Honeymoon Tour in Nepal. Stated briefly, respect your guide: do as he says, dress in a modest way, and respect local culture. This makes the experience of everyone enjoyable.
Trip Extension
In case you want to continue your journey after your Honeymoon Tour in Nepal, you have numerous opportunities. It would be possible to include a 2-3 day jungle safari in Chitwan National Park to view rhinos, tigers, and wildlife in a dense jungle. Cultural extensions may also be a visit to Lumbini (where Buddha was born) or a visit to picturesque Bandipur.
The active couples can take a brief hike at Ghorepani (Poon Hill) or go paragliding in Pokhara. Other extensions include spa retreats or more sightseeing in Kathmandu. One more day in Pokhara or Kathmandu will help to make your honeymoon unforgettable. Himalayan Adventure Treks may give you an opportunity to spend more days of your honeymoon in Nepal, so you can also go on your own schedule.
In the case of adventurous couples, you can take a helicopter tour of the Everest Base Camp, or do a trek on the Annapurna Circuit. Yoga retreats or volunteer services with local villages can also be included by cultural travelers. You can just inform us of what you want to know, and we will set it up.
Photography & Drone Rules
Taking photos at tourist sites is mostly acceptable, and in any case, be courteous. Ask for permission before photographing the locals, especially monks or children. Never use flash in dark temples or at holy altars without seeking their approval.
Drones are highly controlled: you should receive a permit beforehand and cannot fly around airports, military zones, or densely populated territories.
In most heritage sites (such as Durbar Squares or monkey temple areas), drones are completely prohibited. Never disobey whatever your guide says to you regarding the places where you can take photographs. Carry spare cameras and spare batteries, really, some of the temples and villages are photogenic! To conclude, be happy taking pictures, but be safe and respectful.
Ask before taking photographs in villages and adhere to local instructions on photography. When carrying a drone, ensure you are registered with the Nepali authorities beforehand, but you should look forward to using your cell phone camera in most of the shots.
Cultural Festivals on the Trail
The Nepal calendar is full of festivals. In autumn, when you come, you might see Dashain (Sep-Oct), the largest Hindu festival, when the families gather and hang swings all over the place, or Tihar (Oct-Nov), the festival of lights, when oil-lamps light up the streets. During spring, Holi (March) sprays colors in the air, and Buddha Jayanti (May) celebrates the birth of Buddha with non-violent prayers in stupas.
On other occasions, there is Teej (women’s festival in August), Losar (Tibetan New Year, February), and Gai Jatra (July or August, a humorous “cow parade” festival). During the tour, you may be lucky to get a glimpse of local festivities: during Dashain, local markets are filled with decorations, during Tihar, earthen lamps are lit, and during stupa festivals, monks are singing.
These colorful events will give local flair to your Nepal honeymoon tour, provided you have time. In case festivals do not coincide with your dates, you will still experience the real Nepal daily life and traditions.
Tips for First-Time Visitors
For the Honeymoon Tour in Nepal, carry warm clothes in case of cool evenings in the mountains and comfortable walking shoes in the city and for brief hikes. Bring a little day pack, sunglasses, and a reusable water bottle (drink bottled water). It is no problem with Nepali drivers honking. Prepare additional rupee notes and coins to use up.
Always begin low but remain polite when bargaining in the market. Knowing some English words, such as Namaste (hello) and Dhanyabad (thank you), will endear one to locals.
Expect the occasional delays: have a flexible schedule and have fun. Always carry with you photocopies of your passport and travel insurance information. Power is 230 V; carry a universal plug (plug C/D is used in Nepal).
Get ready to deal with one-hour Wi-Fi outages and carry an extra battery or power source. Do not feed monkeys or stray dogs, as it is unsafe for both you and the animals. To conclude, have some tips given by your guide, keep hydrated, and relax: Nepal is a warm nation whose beautiful landscape will make your trip memorable.
