Perfect Flying Weather for the Mardi Himal helicopter tour

For the safest and most pleasant Mardi Heli Tour, there must be the right wind speed, visibility, and cloud height. The little wind will help to stabilize the helicopter a little and also give it a little bit of good speed. The visibility should also be excellent and the cloud height should be around 500 m.

These perfect conditions can be found mainly in two seasons in Nepal: the autumn time which begins from mid-September days and stretches till late November and the springtime which starts from March and continues till the end of May.

No extreme heat, 95 percent time clear and stable weather with mild speed cool pleasing wind, and the calm heat of around 19 to 21 degrees Celsius create a perfect stage for flying high above the mountains of Mardi.

During spring, the magical hues of bright colors and during autumn the breathtaking shades of brown and orange cover the foliage of the Annapurna landscape creating a picture-perfect setting during the heli excursion.

The next comfortable time can be the mid-December days till the end of February days when winter sets in the Mardi area. The mornings can be fog-laden yes but once they are clear, the remaining day is fabulously shiny and bright.

However, the remaining months of June, July, and August are the least suggested times for the Mardi Himal Base Camp Heli Tour. Most of the mornings, and days will be dark cloud-laden and rainy interrupting even the helicopter excursion most of the time.

Mardi Heli Tour: Difficulty Level

Our Mardi Himal Helicopter Tour is truly a sense-elevating journey where all you need to do is take a deep breath, relax, and revel in the astounding scenery beneath.

This exotic Helicopter journey lasts only half an hour with a thirty-minute landing at the exquisite location of the Mardi Himal Base Camp so you can fully appreciate the surrounding scenery without any interruptions.

Each morning before the flight, the perfect flying conditions will be ensured for the secure flight and landing at the Mardi Himal Base Camp which is only 4500 m elevated where we will have only 30 minutes of short time to appreciate the environment.

It means the concern of acute mountain sickness in this journey is relatively very less. Thus, the Mardi Himal helicopter tour is truly one of the most effortless, convenient, and easiest journeys to be close to the Himalayas of Nepal.

Forget about the lengthy road journeys, arduous trekking days, and uncomfortable overnight stays. Within just a mere thirty minutes, you will be in touching distance with the Himalayan titans of Nepal.

In addition, this journey is one of the most budget-friendly opportunities to be very near to the mountains especially when the trek to Mardi Himal Base Camp can cost nearly twice as much.

Thus, feel free to join your family, partner, friends, children, and even grandparents in this unforgettable excursion. This tour is perfectly suited for all between 5 to 80 years of age.

However, we do suggest that expecting mothers and travelers suffering from heart or lung conditions seek guidance from their doctor before taking on this journey. If heights make you uneasy, this tour may not be the best fit for you.

Safety on the Mardi Himal Base Camp Heli Tour

Undeniably, the Mardi Himal helicopter tour is a lifetime memorable experience when you fly over the stunning landscapes avoiding the city traffic and long day strenuous hikes through the villages.

However, doubts about safety still arise in some who end up giving up on the experience out of fear. But let us tell you that it is completely a safe adventure and flying by helicopter is one of the safest modes of travel in the world.

In recent years, the aviation technology and safety standards have advanced significantly. And for our Mardi Heli tour, modern helicopters will be utilized which are equipped with advanced navigation and communication systems in addition to being subject to rigorous maintenance processes.

They are also geared with the best modern age technology to increase the safety of helicopter flights. Automated systems such as autopilot and high-precision GPS allow for more effective control of the aircraft. This not only gives you the complete safety but also offers you the most remarkable aerial journey.

Additionally, our helicopter pilots are highly trained professionals. Therefore, they undergo a rigorous training process, which includes hundreds of hours of flight and simulator training. They also go through ongoing training as it will keep them up to date with the new and upcoming practices and safety procedures.

Likewise, before you get on board, a detailed safety briefing will be provided to you to ensure your well-being. The helicopter also goes through careful inspection and the weather is also confirmed before taking off.

During your time at the Mardi Himal Base Camp, if you feel uneasy, our pilot and guide will be there to help you and oxygen will also be ready if needed.

Altitude Sickness/Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS)

Our Mardi Himal helicopter tour is certainly a thrill to experience but it also has some threat of AMS. The travel program will begin from the lowland of 822 m of Pokhara and within a mere 12 to 15 minutes, you will find yourself standing at the elevation of 4500 m of the high base camp of Mardi peak.

Our bodies are certainly not made for such immediate changes in altitude where there is also a lower amount of oxygen in the air. So the condition can trigger the AMS in some of the travelers especially if they are accustomed to only sea level environment.

Our time at 4500 m will be confined to only half an hour so there will be no long impact still you may start to feel slight uneasiness, headache, and vertigo or breathing shortness.

In such cases, our guide or pilot can administer the supplemental oxygen. Or, you can also opt to take pain relievers for headaches or you can also take acetazolamide (Diamox) as a preventive measure.

Although very rare, still, if the symptoms start to turn severe, our pilot will promptly take you down to Pokhara for further medical attention. Therefore, we encourage all our flying members to carry a bottle of water rich in sugar or electrolytes to prevent the onset of any such symptoms.

Cost of Mardi Himal Helicopter tour

Our Mardi Himal Helicopter Tour price starts from 300 US Dollars and can go up to 500 US Dollars per person. You can also take advantage of potential group discounts by bringing or forming your own intimate group and make this journey more exclusive and personal.

After the take off, you will fly over the most beautiful landscapes and postcards of the city of Pokhara, the Annapurna region and the glacial world of the Mardi Base Camp.

The panoramic flight will be around thirty minutes in total with explanation form our pilot followed by the thirty minute landing at the base camp of Mardi itself. In addition, you will be able to take the best photos of your life from totally unique angles.

In short, every moment in this tour will make certain that every dollar you spend deliver you with an exceptional value.

Which option is worthwhile: The private Mardi Heli tour or the Group Mardi Heli tour?

Before deciding on the private/exclusive or the group/shared Mardi Himal helicopter tour, you should first understand what type of benefits and disadvantages you will get from each type of tour so weighing them, you can take the informed decision.

Lets talk about group tour first which is crafted to gather those who have similar thoughts, interest and taste so they have a shared experience. Such tour will give you the most affordable cost than the private or exclusive tour as the costs are divided between the participants.

You will also have the opportunity to get along with the people who belong to various cultures and backgrounds, create bonds and share the knowledge.

As for the disadvantages go, in group tour, the travel program will be composed beforehand and so all the travelers will have to follow the same time table with no room for improvisation at all.

Likewise, because the tour is shared among several travelers, there will be very less and restricted time at the base camp of Mardi Himal. Additionally, the wish list of all the travelers also have to be taken into account.

Similarly, if the group is large it will be very complicated to maintain the close bond with the tour guide and there will be no exclusivity as well. You will also receive less detailed and more mechanical explanations.

A private tour on the other hand offers you a personalized and tailored experience designed to meet the specific preferences of you only. In addition, you will have more flexible itinerary on hand made particularly taking your time and interest in mind so you can select places where you want to stop.

You will have a dedicated tour guide to yourself so you will receive individual attention , being able to ask more questions and obtain more detailed information.

You will have total control over the pace of your visit and can spend more time at the Mardi Himal Base Camp. You will have privacy and intimacy without the presence of other visitors. However, you will have less interaction with other travelers and the tour will be more pricey.

If you ask us, we would suggest you establish your own group made up of your friends and family so you will have a more exclusive and meaningful experience than with unfamiliar faces. Doing so will also enable you to benefit from the group discount available.

Mardi Himal Base Camp Heli Tour vs Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek

The Mardi Himal Base Camp trek is a relatively new addition to the many trekking routes of Nepal fairly introduced only in 2012. yet, it captures the essence of the traditional trekking adventure of Nepal.

This remarkable journey will lead you through some of the charming locales such as Dhampus, Deurali, Jhinu Danda, and Ghandruk Phedi to the breathtaking alpine territories of the High and the base camps.

All along the way, you will have the exclusive panoramic spectacle of the Hiunchuli, Annapurna and many more.

But the real highlight here is the nearness to the sacred Fish Tail Mountain which no other trekking adventure can grant you. In addition, this trek is the best substitute for the more crowded Annapurna Base Camp trek where you can take the lesser walked trails into a more tranquil environment.

On the other hand, the Mardi Himal helicopter tour is a fantastic option that will take you to the breathtaking glacial realm of Mardi Himal and neighboring Himalayas within a matter of just 15 minutes.

Yes, the experience may not provide the deep and direct connection with the locales and forests, but still, it is a practical choice for those who may struggle with longer hikes.

This tour will allow you to be very close and intimate with the magnificent mountains without the physical strain of extensive trekking. If you have very limited time or lack a long hour of hiking strength, then our Mardi Heli tour could be the perfect chance for you. The entire experience lasts only about an hour, allowing you to maximize your day.

So ultimately, which one to select and which one you find better comes to your priorities, time availability, budget, and personal aspirations, as the beauty of Mardi and its surrounding peaks is enchanting in any form.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is a paramount component of our Mardi Himal helicopter tour as it is the vital requirement to secure the mandatory permits for the tour.

Even if it would not have been mandatory, we would have still encouraged you to get one as you will be spending your exquisite vacation already in Nepal.

Foreign land and foreign adventure amidst the high mountains and their primitive setting may come with the unforeseen and unfortunate events. Although our tour do not involve any kind of hiking adventure and you will traveling in the safest mode of transport, still, you are prone to unseen events.

Such as accidents, natural disasters, injuries, infection, altitude sickness, etc which can require immediate search, rescue and medical transfers which can be highly pricey if you have to pay for the expenses personally.

Additionally, the medical health care in Nepal can be pretty expensive as well. Therefore, it is essential that you procure insurance that covers any accidents or illnesses that may arise during your travels.

It is also vital that your policy provides you the coverage for helicopter rescue operations, air ambulance services, travel cancellations or delays, prolonged stays, theft, and the misplacement or delay of baggage.

Permits essential for the Mardi Himal helicopter tour

Since we will landing and spending delightful half-hour at the Mardi Himal Base Camp, it is important for us to have the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) and the Trekkers Information Management Service (TIMS) card for our Mardi Himal helicopter tour adventure.

To acquire these permits with ease, all you need to do is present your two passport format photos and passport copy at Tourism Board office of Pokhara.

The entire process will be quick after you make the payment of 2000 NPR for TIMS and 3000 NPR for ACAP.
