Trip Introduction
Imagine a legendary machine, Himalayan or CRF, combined with daring bikers, all set out on the untamed journey of Ruby Valley’s rugged trails. The outcome is our extraordinary Ruby Valley Motorbike tour, where each kilometer tells a tale of nature, human perseverance, and heritage.
The adventure of the Ruby Valley motorbike tour is both challenging and fulfilling, enriched by the raw beauty of the Ruby Valley and the warm hospitality of the Tamang, Brahmins, Chhetris, Kami, and other diverse ethnic groups.
Additionally, the tranquil charm of the twin sisters, Ganga and Jamuna waterfalls, with the riverside villages, will not only calm your weary minds but also your soul.
The Ruby Valley motorbike tour 6 days trip will also display the remarkable Heritage sites of Kathmandu, the extraordinary capital of the world that contains both the noise, silence, tradition, and modernity.
The Ruby Valley is strategically located in the Dhading district of Nepal between the grand walls of the Manaslu and Langtang mountain range, very close to Tibet.
Specifically, it lies within the Ganesh Himal range, where the precious Ruby stones are found. So the Ruby Valley motorbike tour may also resonate as the Ganesh Himal Motorbike tour.
Despite being only 122 km from the capital, the Ruby Valley motorbike tour is rarely taken. However, the route is so beautiful and rewarding that on every bend, you will be able to stop your engine hum and look at the exceptional profiles of Himalchuli (7893 m), Ganesh (7429 m), Shringi (7187 m), Annapurna (8091 m), Lamjung (6983 m), Manaslu (8163 m), and Langtang.
Your Ruby Valley motorbike tour itinerary will begin from Kathmandu, a place filled with historic landmarks such as Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, Pashupatinath, and many more.
That same evening, you will get to know your machines, either the Himalaya or CRF, both capable of facing any challenges and hurdles the dirt mountain road of Nepal can throw at you.
Riding north, you will pass through the Syabrubeshi Village in Langtang National Park. Your first night will be spent in the Tamang Village of Gatlang, right under the shadow of Jugal Himal.
Now, the adventurous, bumpy, and untrodden trail will lead you towards Tipling over the 3842 m high Pangsang La Pass and Phulkharka in Dhading, a hidden treasure filled with natural beauty and spirituality.
At Phukharka, you will witness the highlight of the Ruby Valley Motorbike tour: the twin waterfalls of Ganga Jamuna, whose white waters seem to cascade directly from the cliffs above, calming your nerves.
These waterfalls and the nearby Tripura Sundari temple are highly esteemed Hindu pilgrimage sites where a visually delightful religious ceremony takes place every November, three days before the full moon.
The nearby viewpoint is also a magical spot to see the giant faces of the remarkable snow-covered Himalayas. Then, following the Dhading route, you will turn your machine back towards Kathmandu, ending your remarkable Ruby Valley motorbike tour 6 days trip.
So, if you are drawn to the Heritage Sites, secret paths, or genuine cultural experiences, then the dirt bike Ruby Valley motorbike tour is here to leave you breathless.
Whether you are an experienced rider or just getting started, you can join our short Ruby Valley motorbike tour, where our guide will guarantee your safety and satisfaction during the entire trip.

Inspired by the landscape, we will push ourselves from Gatlang towards Parvati Kunda, devoted to Goddess Parvati. The trail further on will have fewer and fewer houses now as we approach Yuri Kharka.
After a moment of stretching and a meal, our machine will kick off over the Khurphu Bhanjyang. Later on, our eyes will meet the deserted mining site of Somdang Village.

When we arrive at the lodge, we will take a moment to rest our machines and ourselves. After some time, we will take a walk to admire the enchanting beauty of these two twin sister waterfalls.
Nearby, we can also observe the sacred stone that is highly esteemed by the Hindus. Each year in November, three days before the Full Moon, a religious ceremony is conducted here. The Tripura Sundari Temple is also a site of deep spirituality.
There is a viewpoint where the Himalchuli, Ganesh, Shringi, Annapurna, Lamjung, Manaslu, and Langtang stand to calm our weary minds and souls. Once we explore the region, we will turn back to our lodge in Phulkharka.

Best Season for the Ruby Valley Motorbike Tour
For the Ruby Valley motorbike tour in Nepal, the ideal riding season will occur in spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November). In spring, the motorcyclists will get the pleasant, stable, and driest weather and sunny days with cool afternoons.
The temperature usually hovers between 15°C and 25°C while the mountains in the distance remain beautifully illuminated, and colorful flowers line the paths.
Autumn also brings cool and dry conditions with clear, perfect skies, excellent for watching the blue Himalayas at a distance.
Winter (December-February) is also favorable, as our Ruby Valley tour remains below 3500 m, thus the cold weather is manageable. The motorcyclists can also bask in warm sunshine throughout the day, but expect a little snow on the dirt trail to Pangsang La Pass.
Summer/monsoon (June-August) is best avoided due to the slippery and muddy roads and reduced visibility.
Difficulty Level of Ruby Valley motorbike Tour 6 Days Trip
Although the Ruby Valley motorbike tour 6 days journey is short but it has an unusual combination of the comfort of the broad Highway roads along with the adventure of the off-beaten mountain dirt roads.
This makes our Ruby Valley motorbike tour a moderate adventure that suits both the experienced daredevils and those who are just starting out on their first off-road biking adventure.
However, know that you should be skilled in your motorbike handling and should possess a legal international driver’s license.
The challenge of the Ruby Valley motorbike tour comes from the distances that need to be covered each day, the diverse terrain of the Dhading mountains, the dirt trail of the Pangsang La Pass, and a slight factor of altitude.
Note that some days can even involve riding as long as 8 or 9 hours. However, we will always rest and break for a moment to stretch and see the surrounding terrain. Plus, our guide will also be with us all the time to ensure your safety and enjoyment on every step of the journey.
Why have we chosen the Himalayan or CRF Motorbike for the Ruby Valley Motorbike Tour Itinerary?
We have selected the Royal Enfield Himalayan or Honda CRF for the Ruby Valley motorbike tour because of their excellent, solid build and ease of handling.
The Himalayan bike of Royal Enfield is more for its reliability and comfort. Its solid construction and suspension can absorb shocks of the dirt terrain well, and its low center of gravity makes it very easy to move and handle. It also has a very simple engine that needs little maintenance.
On the other hand, the Honda CRF is more known for its technical off-road capabilities during long road trips. It has high-performance suspension and powerful engines that allow you to handle the treacherous terrain easily.
Their advanced safety technologies ensure you are safe while riding this machine.
Safety Practice and Consideration during our Ruby Valley Motorbike Tour Itinerary
Besides the safest dirt bikes, Himalayan Adventure Treks has also seen other aspects of the Ruby Valley motorbike tour to enhance your protection through the journey.
An excellent professional motorbike tour guide will always be with you, overseeing the route, potential turns, and bends where careful navigation is needed.
Plus, our safety 4WD vehicle will always be behind you all along the Ruby Valley motorbike tour route. You can store your belongings, thus lightening your machine, and take breaks when the ride seems overwhelming for you.
We also have fuels, tool kits, and spare parts along with a skilled mechanic to solve any mechanical errors that may hinder the smooth transition of the journey.
In addition, we have also arranged a homely, comforting, neat, and clean tea house on the trail with the option of choosing to stay in a homestay.
Why select our Ruby Valley Motorbike Tour?
Our Ruby Valley motorbike tour, although it is only six days long, offers you all the thrill and adventure that you can get from any other longer and more difficult motorbike tours in Nepal.
Here are some compelling factors of our Ruby Valley Motorbike tour that will make it your favorite short tour in the mountains:
- Incredible Scenery: The breathtakingly mesmerizing Himalayas at every bend and turn, the calm waves of the rushing river, and the Ganga Jamuna waterfalls, along with the constant varying nature of the trail, ensure your ride each day is unique.
- Freedom with Adventure: On your two-wheel machine, you can reach those parts of Ruby Valley where cars, 4WD, or even your feet cannot reach.
- Combination of comfort Pave Path with the Dirt Terrain: The Ruby Valley motorbike tour will initially ride you along the tarmac wide roads of the Pasang Lhamu Highway and end you along the Prithvi Highway. In the middle, your route will traverse you over the dirt trail and rocky slope of the Pangsang La Pass.
- Cultural Immersion: All through this tour, you will have consistent contact with the incredible Tamang community, while in the middle of the route, you will come across the Hindu faith at Ganga Jamuna.
- A perfect journey to rekindle your joy for motorbiking: Being short and moderate, you will once again reignite your passion for biking, avoiding the stress of long walks, risky flights, and fatiguing drives.
Altitude Sickness/AMS and Acclimatization
The Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) in our Ruby Valley motorbike tour is relatively low compared to other high-altitude mountain motorbike adventures.
Our Ruby Valley motorbike tour itinerary’s highest point will be Pangsang La pass at 3842 m, which we will ascend quickly, while our maximum sleeping altitude will be at Phulkharka at 3500 m.
Therefore, although AMS is not entirely absent, its likelihood is relatively minimal. However, the quick altitude changes can affect many motorcyclists on this tour, despite their fitness and experience.
To help avoid AMS entirely, we will take regular breaks during the ride, and we encourage you to drink as much water as possible (3 to 4 liters) to help prevent AMS.
Additionally, we also request that you sleep early, as it promotes effective acclimatization. If you still feel fatigue accompanied by headache, nausea, and dizziness, you can use Diamox, which may cause frequent urination due to its diuretic properties.
Training and Preparation for the Ruby Valley Motorbike Tour
No matter how much you excel in bike riding, you must know that it will be very different on the rugged mountain trails of Nepal. The long-distance riding for 7 to 8 hours along the steep dirt roads will not be that easy.

Travel Insurance
A journey on a two-wheel machine, while a very liberating journey, can also sometimes turn into a risky event. That’s why Himalayan Adventure treks always emphasize being a united team on the journey, supporting each other.
However, no matter how hard we try, sometimes, unexpected incidents can happen to riders, no matter how excellent they are at bike riding. In such cases, travel insurance will come in handy to assist you in the financial aspect.
Also, remember that we will be needing your policy number and copies to get the TIMS Card mandatory for our Ruby Valley motorbike tour. So when you are out to get the travel insurance for our Ruby Valley motorbike tour, ensure to add the air evacuation and rescue by helicopter up to 3500 m altitude.
Likewise, since it is a motorbike tour, you should also include special coverage for securing your motorbike gear, such as footwear, helmets, clothing, and other accessories.
Also, verify that your insurance coverage includes support for motorcycle damage, repair, transport, and breakdowns, and damage to third parties because of your ignorance.
You may also want to include medical and accidental support and healthcare expenses. It will be more comprehensive if you also include coverage for the unplanned stays that may occur during your Ruby Valley motorbike tour 6 days trip.
Essential Permits for the Ruby Valley Motorbike Tour
The Ruby Valley motorbike tour, like the trek, also requires the procurement of two very essential permits: the Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) card and a permit for Langtang National Park.
The TIMS Card will ensure the authorized body in Nepal knows your whereabouts, so immediate rescue can be sent in the occurrence of any unexpected events.
The Langtang National Park permit is needed because the initial leg of the Ruby Valley Motorbike tour traverses Syabrubeshi and Gatlang Villages belonging to the Langtang region.
The Nepal Tourism Board is the governing body to give both these permits at 3000 NPR per tourist as the Park fee and 2000 NPR per tourist for TIMS.
As your chosen registered trekking and tour agency, Himalayan Adventure Treks will assist you and obtain these permits for your interest.
Possible Alternate Routes and Extension of the Ruby Valley Motorbike Tour
The Ruby Valley motorbike tour is incredibly flexible and varied that offering a range of routes to choose from. If you look for some extra thrill, then you may consider riding the partial Manaslu circuit trail that runs alongside the Budhi Gandaki River.
This path will eventually lead you to Pangsang Phedi after you conquer four challenging mountain passes. However, this route should only be attempted by experienced high-altitude bikers.
Another potential extension involves a detour to Chalise Gaon, located just beneath Sertung Village. You can also decide to combine the experience of trekking along with motorbike riding and choose to trek over Pangsang La Pass.
For an overnight camping impression, you can stay for a night at this Pass or choose to spend your evening in the hospitable homestay of the locals.
Alternatively, after completing the Ruby Valley motorbike tour 6 days journey, you can also decide to ride your machines further towards the Terai road of Nepal, ending at Chitwan National Park.
Communication
Among the two mobile networks of Nepal, NTC and NCELL, NTC will offer a reliable coverage in the Ruby Valley, as Ncell has a limited network in the area.
Therefore, rather than activating the international roaming on your device (which may not work), get the eSIM card or physical SIM Card of NTC in Kathmandu.
You can also benefit from its 4G data to use the internet on the trail. However, the signal may often come and go and may not be consistent. In the tea houses, you may get the WiFi at a tiny extra sum.
Alternatively, satellite phones can also be utilized for instant communication and the internet.
Private Ruby Valley Motorbike Tour
Himalayan Adventure Treks also offers you the unique opportunity of engaging in a private Ruby Valley motorbike tour, where you can adjust your travel plans to fit your time, budget, and preferences.
You can either form your own group with your friends and family or ride alongside our experienced tour guide. A private tour offers you the flexibility to avoid the constraints of a group schedule. You can make stops at any location and at any time that suits you.
