Our Everest helicopter tour (flyover) has been made to give you this experience of a lifetime, where you will engage in a beautiful aerial ballet over Everest Base Camp (5364 m) and Kala Patthar (5644 m).
We are sure your heart will pound with excitement as you launch into the dizzying heights of the Himalayas at altitudes exceeding 4000 m. Additionally, our Everest helicopter tour (flyover) will also land you in the pristine atmosphere of the Hotel Everest View (3880 m), the highest luxury hotel in the world.
Here, you will dine and drink on the terrace for an hour, an opportunity very few have ever received. Thus, our tour is also rightfully called the Everest helicopter tour with breakfast at Hotel Everest View.
Our Everest helicopter tour (flyover) is only a 4-hour-long journey that begins from Kathmandu, which unfolds into a day of pure exhilaration. Guided by our experienced professionals, you will explore the hidden snowfields of the Sagarmatha National Park, immersing yourself in landscapes that are both untamed and breathtaking.
Whether you are a first-timer on helicopter tours or have taken many, we promise that this tour to the remote slopes of the Everest region will redefine your sense of adventure.
Your Everest Base Camp helicopter tour will begin in the calm atmosphere of Kathmandu. Still in the dark, you will meet our guide, who will take you to TIA.
After completing the boarding process, you will meet our professional pilot and receive a warm welcome briefing about the Everest helicopter tour (flyover).
You will also get the necessary safety guidelines to ensure your safety is a top priority as you venture into the vast sky over Everest. As the morning suns tart to brighten the high Himalayas, you will be airborne, flying over the dramatic landscape.
You will land at the thrilling runway of the famous Lukla Airport. After a quick 15-minute refueling and tea break, you will be airborne again. But this time you will fly over rugged cliffs, expansive forests, ancient monasteries, and glaciers.
Eventually, you will see the Everest Base Camp lying peacefully in front of the infamous Khumbu Icefall. The enormous black mountain of Kala Patthar and the Pumori peak will be visible, surrounded by the glistening wild Himalayas of Lobuche (6119 m), Lhotse (8516 m), Khumbutse (6639 m), Changtse (7543 m), Nuptse (7861 m), Ama Dablam (6812 m), Lingtren (6714 m), and Everest (8848.86 m).
Around 9 AM, our Everest helicopter tour (flyover) will take you towards the 3880 m tall Everest View Hotel above the Syangboche Hill. Here, on its terrace, you will dine amid the majestic peaks of Thamserku (6623 m), Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Cholatse (6440 m), Taboche (6495 m), Everest, and many more in sight.
After an hour, you will travel back to Kathmandu still filled with many stories to tell. Our Everest helicopter tour with breakfast at Hotel Everest View is ideal for individuals or groups of up to five, which becomes particularly captivating in the fresh spring and autumn.
Himalayan Adventure Treks will offer you its professional service and world-class safety measures throughout the Everest helicopter tour (flyover). Please note that accommodation is not included in this day tour, but we are happy to arrange one that suits your preferences.

Day 01: Everest Helicopter Tour (Flyover) – A Lifetime Experience.
5 AM: Wake Up and Prep for the Heli Tour
You will wake up early, in the stillness of the dark, to begin your exciting Everest helicopter tour (flyover). Once you are refreshed with a hot cup of tea, prepare a small light bag with a warm down jacket, sunglasses, hat, gloves, camera, water bottle, and lip balm. Also, be sure to keep your documents handy.
5:30 AM: Drive from hotel to domestic terminal of TIA, 30 minutes, and undergo boarding procedure, 1 hour
Our guide will meet you at your hotel doorstep to transport you to TIA. We will then immediately begin addressing the boarding procedure, which includes weighing our bags and checking our documents.
After around 30 minutes, the airline staff will hand us our boarding passes, after which we will wait at the TIA lounge. After the weather update, we will receive the signal of approval.
Then, we will head to the Helipad, where we will meet our friendly heli pilot. He will then walk us through the safety protocols that we must follow, such as how to buckle up, how to operate the doors and windows, how to talk with headphones on, and so on.
We will now get in the heli, take our respective seats, and wait nervously for the departure towards Lukla.
Note
If you are engaged in a group Everest helicopter tour with breakfast at Hotel Everest View, please understand that we will be changing the window seats regularly. This way, each passenger will get a fair chance to enjoy the priceless views of Everest.
7 AM: Helicopter flight to Lukla, 2860 m, 45 minutes, (refueling time 15 minutes)
Once all is ready, we will now talk to the sky and fly towards the east closely alongside the infinite Himalayan summits of Nepal. Quickly, we will start to notice the beautiful edges of the Ganesh Himal and Langtang mountains to the north.
Then, one by one, Jugal Himal, Gaurishankar, Kanchenjunga, Manaslu, and Dorje Lhakpa will also start to appear below. Shortly, we will be able to see the 3550 m profile of the beautiful Lamjura pass and the Mahalangur Himalayan range, home to Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse.
From here, our pilot will turn north and then prepare to land us on the 527 m long cliffy runway of the iconic Lukla Airport. Here, the helicopter will refuel, which may take around 15 minutes, and we will enjoy Kongde Ri and other peaks with a hot tea.
8 AM: Helicopter flight resumes to Pheriche, 4200 m, (Optional Landing may occur)
Our flight will resume, and our pilot will narrate his energetic tales as we proceed towards Pheriche. Below, we can see the magnetic currents of Dudh Koshi flowing by and beside its expansive greenery.
Soon enough, we will start to see the hills of Namche, Phortse, and the attractive red monasteries of Tengboche and Pangboche. Nuptse, Everest, Lhotse, and the new glistening face of Ama Dablam start to show up as we soar above the rocky terrain of Phortse.
Attention
Please keep in mind that if you are engaged in a private Everest helicopter tour with breakfast at Hotel Everest View, then landing at Pheriche will not occur.
A landing will only occur if the group consists of 4-5 passengers, due to altitude limitations (a maximum of 3 passengers above 4200 meters with a weight restriction of 250 kg for the helicopter). One group will stay at Pheriche while the other continues their expedition.
8:30 AM: Helicopter Flight over Everest Base Camp, 5364 m, and Kala Patthar, 5644 m
As we progress with our Everest helicopter tour (flyover), we will soon see the huge cluster of five-colored prayer flags dancing in the Himalayan air of the 4830 m high Dughla Pass.
We will then fly over the immensely incredible Cho La Pass (5420 m), Pumori, and Lobuche Peaks. We will also begin to see the massive walls of the Khumbu Glacier.
Notice the stark moon-like terrain of Gorakshep and then the immense snowy expanse of Everest Base Camp. The pointy edges of Khumbu Icefall may scare you, and at the same time also excite you.
If you happen to take the Everest Base Camp helicopter tour in spring, you will also see the snowy terrain of EBC turned into a very colorful, bustling village of the climbers.
Shortly, we will also be able to take a look at the black high mountain walls of Kala Patthar. Helicopter landing here is now prohibited, but we can still feel the pure Himalayan breeze flowing through Lobuche, Lhotse, Khumbutse, Changtse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Lingtren, and Everest on our skin.
8:50 AM: Helicopter flight and Landing at Everest View Hotel for breakfast, 3880 m, 1 hour
After the phenomenal scenario of Kala Patthar, our pilot will now take the turn and take us to Syangboche for breakfast at the Everest View Hotel, the highest five-star hotel in the world.
It is perfectly located amid the high, snowy pointed frames of Thamserku, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Cholatse, Taboche, Everest, and many more.
This Japanese-built hotel was labeled by Guinness World Records as the highest in 2004. Enjoy a full hour of food and drinks on the terrace of this gracious hotel. Meanwhile, our helicopter will head back to Pheriche to pick up the other group.
10 AM: Flight to Kathmandu via Lukla
Filled with immense joy, photos, videos, smiles, and hugs, we will now get back in our helicopter to descend to Lukla and fly back to Kathmandu.
10:55 AM: Arrival in Kathmandu and Hotel Transfer
We will safely land at Kathmandu Airport, where our driver will pick you up to take you back to your hotel. You will also get your achievement certificate for finishing the Everest helicopter tour with breakfast at Hotel Everest View.

Why Himalayan Adventure Treks for the Everest Helicopter Tour (Flyover)?
Himalayan Adventure Treks stands out as a respected travel agency in Nepal that specializes in various types of trips in Nepal, Bhutan, and Tibet. With decades of experience and expertise gained, we also specialize in organizing various helicopter tours in Nepal, including the Everest helicopter tour (flyover).
For our Everest Base Camp helicopter tour, we offer you:
Highly Qualified Team
The airlines that we choose for our Everest helicopter tour (flyover) consist of the most skilled, licensed, and experienced pilots and technicians. They are capable of managing any unpredictable situations in the mountains.
After all, operating a flight at altitudes over 4000 m and 5000 m requires not only physical fitness and sound health, but also a nerve of steel.
There are technicians who inspect the helicopter before each takeoff, and then there are pilots who determine if takeoff and landing are safe and possible.
They also have extensive knowledge of mountainous terrain, unpredictable weather patterns, and the physiological impacts of altitude.
Both the pilots and technicians constantly go through training and keep pace with new technologies.
Cutting Edge Updated Technology
The success of the Everest helicopter tour (flyover) also depends on the helicopters that are made to operate in extreme conditions. When flying over 4000 m, the thin air and low air pressure can make an ordinary engine less effective.
That’s why, for our Everest helicopter tour (flyover), only a helicopter with cutting-edge technology is used that has powerful engines and specially designed blades.
These helicopters also contain a high-quality GPS system and are equipped with oxygen kits to help with altitude sickness.
Two Stopovers during the tour
You will have two guaranteed awesome stops during our Everest helicopter tour (flyover): one at Lukla and the other at the Everest View Hotel. In a shared tour, you will also have the chance to be at Pheriche for a while, which will dazzle you with its enormous rocky and Himalayan terrain.
Daily Departure
Daily flights are available for our Everest helicopter tour (flyover), which means you won’t have to plan the tour specifically in spring or autumn. You can come anytime and go to Everest and see its unique charm in any season you like.
Experience of Everest in just a day
Almost all visitors come to Nepal to get up close to Everest, but not everyone has the time or health to trek to its base camp or summit. With our Everest helicopter tour with breakfast at Hotel Everest View, you can experience Everest in just a few hours without the need for exhausting multi-day hikes and long durations.
New Safety Guidelines for the Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour
From January 2025, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has implemented new safety guidelines for the Everest helicopter tour (flyover) to ensure the safety of every passenger, protect the environment, and minimize the impact on local jobs.
Himalayan Adventure Treks also focuses on safety and environmental sustainability in all our Everest Base Camp helicopter tours. Therefore, we kindly request you to follow these new guidelines so that together we can protect the delicate ecosystem of the Everest.
The updated safety guidelines are as follows:
No commercial landings at Kala Patthar
In the past, all Everest helicopter tour (flyover) could land for about ten minutes on the Kala Patthar platform. However, because of environmental concerns and to protect passenger health, CAAN has now banned regular commercial landings at Kala Patthar.
Only a few private charter tours will be permitted to make a quick stop here during the peak seasons of spring and autumn.
Designated Stops only
CAAN now allows only two stops during the Everest base camp helicopter tour: one at Pheriche for weight distribution and enhanced safety during the shared tours. And the second is in the Everest View Hotel for breakfast and relaxation.
Limited Everest helicopter tour (flyover)
Local communities have raised their concerns regarding the rising number of Everest helicopter tour (flyover), stating they have decreased the employment chances of local guides and porters.
Therefore, CAAN has introduced measures to ensure a balance between access and sustainable practices. Thus, the Everest Base Camp helicopter tour has been slightly reduced, which also preserves the pristine nature and reduces air traffic.
Best Season
The Everest helicopter tour (flyover) will be an exciting aerial adventure throughout the year. However, the time between November and May is considered the best for the most favorable and agreeable weather.
March, April, and May are the spring in Nepal, which reward you with excellent visibility, lush green hills, and a temperature between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius.
September, October, and November are the autumn months when the climate is most conducive to uninterrupted helicopter flights. We would like to remind you that if you engage in a private Everest helicopter tour (flyover) in these two seasons, you may even have a brief stop at Kala Patthar.
December, January, and February welcome the winter air with transparent blue skies ideal for aerial photography, but the morning can be foggy and a bit cold.
June, July, and August are greeted with summer and monsoon air, so the weather can be unforeseen, often resulting in waiting for clear flying days.
Private or Group/Sharing Everest Helicopter Tour (Flyover)
The private Everest helicopter tour (Flyover) is a premium adventure that is designed for 1 to 2 passengers looking for an exclusive and intimate experience of the breathtaking Himalayas in complete privacy and flexibility.
While the shared Everest Base Camp helicopter tour won’t allow landing at Kala Patthar, the private experience lets you land here for a moment. You will have ample time to stand under the shadow of Everest and other tall peaks of the world.
Also, you won’t have to wait at Pheriche for your turn, and the helicopter can take you even higher because of its lightweight. Additionally, the Himalayan Treks offer you this premium adventure at group prices ranging from USD 1250 to USD 1300.
On the other hand, the shared Everest base camp helicopter tour will accommodate up to five passengers in one trip. So if you want a shared scenic helicopter ride, then this tour will be ideal for you.
The standard landing stops for the shared Everest helicopter tour (flyover) are in Lukla, Pheriche, and the Everest View Hotel. Our shared tour will cost between USD 1100 and USD 1200 per person.
Ultimately, it will be up to you which one to choose: a more social experience or a more exclusive one.
Our tip to reduce your cost on the Everest Helicopter Tour with Breakfast at Hotel Everest View
Although the Everest helicopter tour (flyover) may seem like a luxury outing, let us tell you, there are ways in which you can make it more accessible financially.
One way is to take a shared Everest helicopter tour (Flyover), where you will share your expenses with other passengers, reducing the cost per person.
If you want a cost-effective and intimate experience at the same time, then the best way to form your own group is with family or friends.
Another way to save is by booking the Everest helicopter tour with breakfast at the Everest View Hotel during the off-season, such as late autumn, winter, or early spring.
These times see fewer tourists, thus lowering your price and offering you peace while flying over Everest Base Camp.
Who can join our Everest Helicopter Tour (Flyover)?
The Everest helicopter tour (flyover) is a very adaptable adventure that is suitable for diverse people. It is particularly perfect for individuals who like to appreciate the splendor of Mount Everest without undertaking a strenuous hike.
Additionally, it serves as an excellent option for those who have limited time in Nepal, as the entire journey is completed within just 4-5 hours. This tour also accommodates individuals, couples, families, or small groups with children.
If you are a fan of a chic, luxurious traveling style, then our tour is for you. Likewise, seniors and non-hikers, and people with health or mobility challenges can also join our Everest helicopter tour (flyover) because of its easy accessibility.
However, if you have a fear of flying or are sensitive to high altitudes, then you should seek guidance before participating in our Everest Base Camp helicopter tour.
Altitude Sickness and Its Management
Altitude sickness is a physical condition that you will experience when you rise to a moderate or high mountain altitude. This physical discomfort is also called the Acute Mountain Sickness/AMS, which often results from low air pressure and oxygen content found in altitudes over 2500 m.
On our Everest helicopter tour (flyover), you will certainly be at a higher mountain elevation, but you will stay there only for a short period. Still, you will be flying at altitudes that exceed 4000 m, so it is completely normal to experience a few minor physical discomforts related to altitude sickness, like headaches, nausea, and drowsiness.
To help yourself with the management of altitude sickness, have a light breakfast in the morning before setting off for the tour, and take Diamox. Keep drinking lukewarm water and make sure to get plenty of sleep before the tour.
Please be stress-free as we carry supplemental oxygen in the helicopter, which will be administered if needed.
Safety Guidelines for the Everest Helicopter Tour with Breakfast at Hotel Everest View
There are certain safety guidelines that you must follow to ensure a safe flying journey, not only for yourself but also for other passengers and crew members. Below are some safety protocols that you should ensure you follow:
- Always listen to your pilot’s instructions
- Please respect the decision of our pilot
- Always be in sight of the pilot when boarding and getting off the helicopter
- Only enter or exit the helicopter from the instructed side

- Be adaptable to any unforeseen events or changes to the schedule or route
- Please wait at the helipad and board the heli only after you are instructed

Preparation for the Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour
Although the Everest helicopter tour (flyover) is the easiest way to see the Everest, it also needs careful planning and the right clothing. In the Himalayan altitude, the sun can be quite strong with fierce UV rays and cold at the same time.
Additionally, the weather can be windy and suddenly changeable, so please prepare yourself with the following items:
- Waterproof and windproof down jacket
- Warm breathable pant
- Warm sun hat or cap
- Scarf and mask
- Sunglasses
- High SPF sunscreen and lip balm
- Warm gloves
- Comfortable shoes
- Water bottle
- Energy bars and a few snacks
- Camera and mobile
- Passport and its copy
Accommodation, Meals, and Transportation
Kindly note that accommodation is not part of our service in our Everest helicopter tour (flyover). Likewise, breakfast at the Everest View Hotel is also not included in the tour price, so you will need to cover the cost independently.
In terms of transportation, we offer you transfers between the airport and your hotel, and we will also arrange your helicopter flight (either shared or private) for the Everest Base Camp helicopter tour.
Permits Essential for the Everest Helicopter Tour (Flyover)
Although we will not be hiking, we will still need permission for entry into the Khumbu Municipality and Sagarmatha National Park.
Our guide will assist you with the procedure, but you will need to pay the fees for the Sagarmatha National Park permit, which is NPR 3000 per passenger, and for the Khumbu Municipality Local Area permit, which is NPR 2000 per passenger.
You will pay the fee in person to the related authority present at the Everest View Hotel.
Travel Insurance
Although the duration of our Everest helicopter tour (flyover) is only 4 to 5 hours, we do want to emphasize that travel insurance is necessary for the tour.
It should be comprehensive, covering your helicopter rescues, transportation, evacuation, medical emergencies, tour delays, or any unforeseen circumstances that may occur in the tour. Please note that this cost is separate from the tour package cost.
Alternate Helicopter Tour Options that we offer
There are plenty of other helicopter tours that we provide in Nepal, which you can enjoy after completing the Everest Helicopter tour (flyover), such as:
Annapurna Base Camp Helicopter Tour
The Annapurna Base Camp heli tour is also a short one-day tour that will lead you to the 4130 m altitude of the base camp of the gorgeous Annapurna Mountain.
Unlike the Everest Base Camp helicopter tour, you will be able to land at the pristine terrain of the Annapurna Base Camp and spend around half an hour between the high mountains.
Again, you will reach the other iconic location of Nepal without the need for long multi-day hikes.
Gosaikunda Helicopter Tour
The Gosaikunda helicopter tour is another very short (2 to 3 hours) flyover adventure that will take you straight to the exquisite richness, spirituality, and dramatic landscape of the Gosaikunda Lake.
With the massive Langtang Himal range in the backdrop, you will be able to see the religious ceremonies and the importance of the lake, while you will also have an incredible chance to savor a delicious breakfast at Langtang Valley.
Another exciting, short, and affordable way to reach the rewarding trekking destination of Nepal.
Mardi Himal Base Camp Heli Tour
Mardi Himal Base Camp at 4500 m is yet another natural marvel and is now among the most desired hiking destinations in the Annapurna region.
Within just 2 to 3 hours, you will be spending half an hour dining amongst the gigantic snowy creatures of Hiunchuli, Singuchuli, Annapurna, Fishtail, and Varaha Shikhar.
Muktinath Helicopter Tour
A Muktinath helicopter tour is an elegant and quickest way to reach one of the sacred Himalayan temples of Nepal: the Muktinath itself, revered in Hinduism and Buddhism.
This tour is ideal for both pilgrims and adventurers who like to see the grand Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges, along with the deepest gorge in the world formed by the Kali Gandaki.
The heli will take you straight to the vicinity of the temple, with a landing for around 15 to 30 minutes.
