Trip Introduction
Have you ever dreamed of walking through winding streets where time seems to stand still and every turn brings new, extraordinary discoveries? Or maybe you are fascinated by the thought of meeting the rare wildlife, riding the cable car across the hill, or paddling across a tranquil lake surrounded by the friendly faces of locals? Prepare yourself for an exciting Nepal at a Glance journey that will take you to some of the enigmatic places of Nepal that will delight you with their charm.
It is truly a great Nepal tour made for your family, friends, culture, and nature enthusiasts that includes all the main attractions of this small, enchanting realm – mountains and temples, landscapes and palaces, wildlife and ancient legends, culture and people.
The itinerary of our Nepal at a Glance trip commences in Kathmandu. You will experience exceptional heritage and astonishing modernity as you tour the Swayambhunath, Durbar Square, Boudhanath, and Pashupatinath.
Then, to balance the business of the capital, you will count on the wisdom of Patan and Bhaktapur, two very ancient cities that not only have a rich artistic heritage but also consist of a very particular, even intense, spiritual climate, which Hinduism and Buddhism actively maintain.
Then, there is Nagarkot at 2175 elevation which is the tallest hill of the Kathmandu Valley. Here, the high mountains of Langtang, Jugal (6095 m), Annapurna, Hiunchuli (6441 m), Manaslu (8163 m), Gaurishankar (7134 m), Ganesh (7422 m), and even Everest (8848 m) crowd in the light air and give the horizon the spectacle of immaculate power.
Then, you will proceed to get to know the biodiversity of the UNESCO Heritage jungle of Chitwan National Park. You will be involved in activities like guided walks with a naturalist, a true jungle safari in a jeep, a river canoe safari, and a visit to a village to learn about the customs and traditions of the local Tharu people.
The next iconic location set in our Nepal at a Glance tour is the Lumbini- the mecca for Buddhists from all over the world. It is the perfect part of southern Nepal to soak up the peace, calm your nerves, meditate, and reflect on your existence.
The Mayadevi Temple, its Sacred Garden, the eternal flame, and the white building of the World Peace Pagoda are some of the charms of this little holy town.
The next stop will be at Pokhara, but not before a brief pause at the hidden treasure of Tansen, Palpa. Traversing its intertwined streets, you will experience as if you have stepped back in time by decades.
The town is like a Pandora’s box of historical buildings, traditional crafts, and hospitable locals who are eager to share their knowledge of local customs and traditions.
Pokhara, on the other hand, is a serene haven of natural beauty. With crystal clear lakes like the famous Phewa Lake, lush forests, and breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks, this city attracts adventurers and peace-loving travelers.
From paragliding over the mesmerizing landscape to exploring mystical caves like Gupteshwor, it is a dream destination for those seeking both relaxation and adventure in one of the most beautiful mountain landscapes.
Then you will step into the enchanting Bandipur that has escaped the ravages of tourism to date. It is often regarded as a stunning place to see the amazingly bewitching views of Manaslu, Dhaulagiri, Langtang, Annapurna, and the entire Marsyangdi Valley.
It literally gives us the opportunity for an insight into the original Newari culture that seems to vanish in Kathmandu city.
Then, to bring a delightful ending to the Nepal at a Glance trip, you will take a little visit to Chandragiri Hill before traveling back to Kathmandu. It nestles at 2550 m elevation, where you will enjoy the thrill of the cable car ride across the green hills.
Magically attractive and suitable for all seasons, our Nepal at a Glance tour is literally a splendid combination of cultural experiences, natural wonders, spiritual journeys, historical exploration, and lively adventures.
Welcome to a unique and splendid travel journey that displays the magnificence of Nepal.

Day 02: Explore 4 Heritage Sites in Kathmandu Valley.
After breakfast, we will go on a visit to Kathmandu’s UNESCO World Heritage-listed places and monuments. The capital is often regarded as the living museum – a testament to old culture, time, and heritage.
Its Pashupatinath temple located on the Bagmati River’s edge is reminiscent of Banaras of India. The main temple in its typical pagoda form dates from around the 17th century.
At the right time, you will be able to see numerous sadhus, and cows roaming freely in its periphery. Although, we may not be able to enter inside the main temple, but we can go to the cremation site called Aryaghat where the atmosphere can be very unique to you.
Next, we will move on to tour the Boudhanath Stupa existing in Kathmandu soil from 14th century. Its base represents the earth and then water, fire, air, and ether ultimately indicating the path to spiritual awakening.
Apart from the main stupa, you will be able to see numerous other Tibetan monasteries in its vicinity. Then, we will continue on to see the more than 2500-year-old Swayambhunath Stupa. On each of its four faces are three eyes of the great Buddha representing wisdom, kindness, and the cosmic ray called by the Buddha Himself.
Now, we will move on to the old part of Kathmandu: its Palace (Durbar) Square where we will see the Hanuman Dhoka royal palace, the Mahadev and Parvati temples, the Machhendra Bahl shrine, the Kumari Chok, where the Kumari lives, a young girl embodying the goddess Durga, avatar of Parvati, the Kal Bhairav temple, and many more.
In the evening, you can then move on to delight in the nighttime enchantment of Thamel, the capital’s key tourist area, which is alive and welcoming throughout the night.

Day 03: Patan and Bhaktapur visit & Overnight at Nagarkot.
Today, we have two historical towns of the Kathmandu Valley awaiting our visit. First, we will proceed to visit the oldest city of Patan which is full of exotic pagodas and cultural heritage.
Around its Palace square, there are several towers, temples, stupas, and pagodas. The palace itself overlooks the entire square area and you can also see the Krishna Temple founded in the Shikhara style of India.
The particular interest will be in the Hiranya Varna Mahavihar, the Golden Temple, from the 15th century, and the Minnath Mandir, from the 16th century, both dedicated to the bodhisattva of compassion Avalokitesvara.
You can also see the erotic wood carvings here and there which demonstrate the pleasing artistry of the Newari craftsmen chisel.
It’s now time to move on to the Araniko Highway to visit the original home of Newar culture- the Bhaktapur. On the road to Bhaktapur, we will meet Thimi where there is Balkumari Goddess, Kali, Laxmi, Ganesh, and many other deities sanctuaries.
As for Bhaktapur, its palace square as a world heritage is particularly elegant. Here, we will see the Royal Palace Complex, the 5-storey Nyatopala Temple, the Bhairabnath Shrines, the Dattatraya Temple, the Pujari Math, and the famous Peacock Window.
We will now proceed to Nagarkot, only around half an hour afar at 2175 m elevation. Already in the evening, we will have sensational mountain views from our overnight establishment.

After the bewitching spectacle, we will journey back to our Nagarkot hotel for breakfast. It’s time that we buckle up and move on to the road to travel back to Bhaktapur along the Araniko Highway which eventually will join the Prithvi Highway beside the massive torrent of Trishuli.
Rolling scenes of the green hills and yellow fields will captivate us as we slowly approach the Mugling Highway. Here we turn south and progress towards Bharatpur.
The Terai flatland slowly emerge as we travel along the Gitanagar and Patihani Road which will ultimately land us at the gate of Chitwan National Park.
The heart of the jungle, the Chitwan National Park, extends to a total area of 952.63 square kilometers and is considered one of the largest and most species-rich national parks in the Indian subcontinent.
Its tropical jungle is divided by the Narayani, Reu, and Rapti Rivers that flourish the forest with the massive tall trees of Sal, and elephant grasslands.
It is the delightful abode for over 700 species of animals including 68 types of mammals, 544 types of birds, 60 types of reptiles, and amphibians along with 126 types of fish.
There are also the most precious rarities that include the Bengal tiger, Indian rhinoceros, leopard, sloth bear, gaur, king cobra, crocodile, gharial, monitor lizard and dolphin.

With luck, and the expert skills of our jungle guide, we may be able to encounter deer, rhinos, wild boars, monkeys, sloth bears, and many other mammals.
Maybe, the elusive Bengal Tiger will also grant us some of its rare visuals. After we have our safari lunch, we will then proceed to get to know the local canoes that are carved from a single tree trunk and our paddlers.
A canoe trip on the Rapti River will allow us to observe and photograph crocodiles and gharials up close. After getting on dry land, we will then have a guided walk in the jungle along with our jungle rangers.
En route, we will also meet the regal elephants enjoying their clean bath in the Narayani while we will also play with their babies at their breeding center and Nursery.

Day 06: Drive from Chitwan to Lumbini.
Today, we will set on to visit the place where Queen Mayadevi gave birth to Shakya Prince Siddhartha Gautam who later turned into Buddha- the source of enlightenment.
Just like Mecca is sacred to Muslims, the Jerusalem to Christians, Lumbini is sacred to all the Buddhists around the world. This site today has temples, monasteries, a museum, monuments, and the International Research Institute – Lumbini. It became the privileged part of the UNESCO listing in 1997.
We will leave Chitwan and travel through Bharatpur and Butwal before reaching Siddharthanagar. Lumbini is just moments away and we already feel the unique aura that this place seems to radiate.
After we leave our bags in the hotel, we will venture into the religious site of this place. The most important centerpieces will be the Mayadevi Temple and the Pushkarini – the Holy Lake where Buddha is said to have first bathed.
The Mayadevi Temple lies in the heart of the Lumbini development area and here we can see the precise birth location of Buddha indicated by the stone slab.
Around the temple, we will then take a walk along the sacred garden that is adorned with beautiful ponds, bodhi trees, and meditation zones. It has an ideal atmosphere for meditation.
Then, we can also take a walk to the impressive white World Peace Pagoda that offers an enthralling view of the Lumbini. It symbolizes peace and hope and is open to visitors during the day.
Then, there is the international monastic zone which houses the international monasteries built by various countries that believe in the faith of Buddhism. Here we can admire the architectural diversity of various nations including Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, Japan, Germany, Sri Lanka, Korea, Austria, etc.
We will also take some time to visit the Lumbini Museum where we can get information about the Lumbini legend, its archaeology and history in detail. It has a collection of artifacts found in the area and provides background information on the significance of Lumbini.
Now that we have cleansed our souls with the reviving energy of Buddha, we will now head on to prepare for our next adventure.

Day 07: Drive from Lumbini to Pokhara.
Today, we will proceed with our exploration of southern Nepal and journey west to Tansen which serves as a gateway to the central region of Pokhara.
First, we will travel through the Bhairahawa and Butwal plains and then take on the route that follows the midlands of the Mahabharat range. Accompanied by the Gaurishankar and the Dhaulagiri, we will be at Tansen within 2 hours.
This is a place that delights not only with its amazing views but also with a rich history and unique culture. Known as the Queen of Hills, Tansen offers the glance of the well-protected architecture that has its roots to the medieval era.
The old-designed Newari houses of the local will delight us while the historical Tansen Durbar Square will steal our heart with its skill crafted walls and windows.
And, if you like to hear the serene peace, then you can just head on to the top of Srinagar Danda Hill, just a short walking distance from Tansen.
Then, there is Rani Mahal (Palace), a historic palace set amidst lush forests along the Kali Gandaki River bank. After this short stop in Tansen, we will resume our journey to Pokhara.
We will begin on a rough dirt road that traverses the hills and mountains that eventually connects to a long, wide paved road of Siddhartha Highway that passes through Syangja before we reach Pokhara- the picturesque region of the Phewa-Begnas-Rupa lake system.
It is one of the most photographed regions of Nepal and perhaps the best-known tourist area in Nepal and the Himalayas. One of the reasons for its mystique and beauty is the queen of Mountains the Fishtail otherwise known as Machhapuchhre and three legendary ranges of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, and Manaslu tower in its background.
After we leave our things in the hotel, we can go boating/water biking on Phewa Lake.

As you arrive in the middle of this small yet enthralling locality, you will suddenly feel you are in another time. Here, still, the inhabitants like to stay the same old way with the same fashioned carved houses with slate roofs.
No silly traffic, you can simply walk through its street and see farmers tending vegetable gardens for sale, women carrying baskets of freshly cut fodder, children arranging corn cobs on stalls, and goats, buffaloes, and chickens roaming freely.
We will visit the many temples this little town has such as the Thani Mai Temple Viewpoint located atop the hill of Gurungche which is only a half-hour walk from the village.
You may also choose to hike 500 m up and down the Siddha Cave of Bandipur. It is a large cave and the pathway leading up to it is certainly very beautiful.

Cellular Connection and WiFi/Internet
Your home network may allow you to activate the roaming service when visiting Nepal but you should also consider the high expense associated with this service.
Therefore, it is best that you utilize a local mobile network during your stay. You can choose between eSIMs or physical SIM cards, depending on what you find most preferable for you.
In Nepal, there are two key mobile networks that offer wide coverage throughout your travels on the Nepal at a Glance tour. They are the privately operated NCELL network and the government-run Namaste/NTC (Nepal Telecom) network.
You can effortlessly get their eSIMs on the net and operate them after you make the payment through QR Code. Or, you can also go for the Sim Cards which are conveniently purchasable at various outlets.
Both offer 4G connectivity and various options for low-cost mobile internet data packages. However, you won’t need these packages, as free WiFi is available in all the cities you will visit.
Essential Preparation for the Nepal at a Glance Trip
We have thoughtfully designed our entire journey in Nepal to offer you a comfortable glimpse into this beautiful country. Therefore, we have intentionally left out any strenuous, lengthy hikes or high-altitude destinations.
All the locations that we will visit are situated below 2500 m, with the exception of Nagarkot Hill and Chandragiri Hill, which reach that elevation. This means you can rest easy, as there is absolutely no risk of acute mountain sickness.
We have included only gentle hikes to the Nagarkot View Tower and Sarangkot View Tower, and in Chitwan, you will only engage in a leisurely guided jungle walk.
So a basic fitness routine will be enough to prepare you for these easy treks. Engaging in light jogging, running, or stair climbing will help you get ready.
Regarding other vital preparations for the trip, do not neglect to take out the proper travel insurance, and be sure to pack your personal medications, some warm clothing, and a raincoat. And remember to bring along your well-worn hiking boots too.
How safe is Nepal at a Glance Trip?
Nepal is a very welcoming and secure destination and its people are known to the world for their warmth and their willingness to assist foreign travelers.
However, like in any other part of the world, you should remain alert and take general safety measures. Your passport, bank card, and credit card are vital travel documents so keep them securely within your sight all the time.
Avoid handing over your credit or bank cards to others and take the laminated copy of your passport just in case if you need to show it to officials.
During our organized excursions and tours, we prioritize the safety of each of our guests and so we remain thoroughly vigilant. Today, Nepal has a very stable political climate and if you have any concerns during your travel, you can reach out to our guide or our representative.
Likewise, the roads in Nepal are now not what they were used to. There have been tremendous improvements and all the intercity travels will take place along the expansive well paved asphalted Highways.
As said, we always care for your safety first and so we will utilize only well-maintained vehicles driven by experienced and trustworthy drivers. On the other hand, most of our guests are often concerned about the earthquake risks.
Yes, Nepal being nestled in the Himalayas has the likelihood of small earthquakes time and again but the chances of a high-magnitude earthquake are really slim. So, feel very safe and come to our tour with ease of mind.
Currency, Conversion, Credit Card and Online Payment
The money of Nepal is known as the Nepalese Rupees/NPR which comes in beautifully designed paper notes and coins. Some other currencies are also accepted in main merchant centers such as Euros, Indian currency, and American Dollars.
You can consider changing your money after you settle in your hotel as our representative will be at TIA to transfer you to your designated accommodation.
As you decide to convert your money, we suggest you do it in the bank counters of SBI, Nabil Bank, Everest Bank, Himalayan Bank, Nepal Rastra Bank, or Standard Chartered Bank as they only charge minimal commission for the service.
Please do not consider the easy offer in your hotel or Thamel as the commission price can be quite hefty. Likewise, you can also use the ATMs of the aforementioned banks to take out the cash but be mindful of the added service charge that can range between 300 to 700 NPR.
We suggest you take out 10,000 to 35000 NPR and not the larger amount as this amount will comfortably cover all your daily expenses for meals and drinks.
International cards are also acceptable now in big malls and hotels but again, take note of the transaction fees that can range from 3.5% to 4%, which can potentially raise your overall costs.
As for the online payment, you can install the popular e-wallet apps such as Khalti, and Esewa from Google Play store or Apple Store. Scan the QR code and load the e-wallet with funds and there you go, make an easy safe, and secure online payment.
Travel Insurance
Travel insurance Is not a requirement for our Nepal at a Glance trip but getting it can certainly be beneficial. The main reason will be the peace of mind you get during any unexpected emergencies.
Just picture this, you may have to terminate your trip prematurely or extend your stay due to an accident, illness, or even a family tragedy. The financial expense in such situations can be very overwhelming.
At such time, travel insurance will step up to cover all these potential costs including expenses for an extended stay caused by natural disasters or other unforeseen circumstances.
It also covers the very pricey fees associated with rescue helicopters, which can easily reach thousands of dollars without coverage. So for our tour, you can take the standard or basic insurance plan that ensures you have emergency help when traveling in Nepal.
Your basic travel insurance will include essential services like search and rescue, hospital transport after an accident, and necessary medical treatment. In addition, it can also arrange for your early return home if required.
It will also be wise on your part to consider additional coverage for extra protection against lost or delayed luggage, theft, trip cancellations, and flight delays.
Visa and Entrance Permit
There are two ways you can get your tourist Visa for Nepal. One is to get the visa directly at TIA as you reach the Airport. To avoid a long time in queue, you can complete the online application from your home country on the official web page of the Nepal Immigration Office.
Submit a copy (colored scanned) of your passport, and upload your digital passport-sized photo. Then fill in your details and get the confirmation letter with your personal barcode. Print this paper and show it at the Immigration desk at TIA.
Make the payment of 30 American Dollars for 15 days duration and receive your tourist visa. Don’t worry if you like to lengthen your time in Nepal as you can conveniently add 15 more days after you make the payment of 45 American Dollars with an added 3 American dollars for any further days.
If you don’t feel like going through a lot of hassle after your tiring flight, you can also arrange your visa in your home country. You can do this at the Nepalese embassy or at the Nepalese Consulate in your country.
Regarding permits, no specific permits are needed for our Nepal at a Glance tour except for the payment of minimal entrance fees for touring the monuments.
The entrance fees for the monuments in different cities can be different but range between 1 to 12 US Dollars which are subject to modifications based on the rules imposed by the local authorities, nationality, and age.
All the prices for various activities that you will indulge in Chitwan have been covered in the cost of our Nepal at a Glance trip.
