Day 02: Kathmandu City Sightseeing tour.

On this day, one of the 7-day Short Nepal Bhutan Tour package’s highlights is a full-day sightseeing tour of Kathmandu City. You can get ready in the morning and enjoy a hearty breakfast at your hotel. We will visit your hotel to pick you up for this exciting guided tour around the city.

While a single day will not be enough to capture everything that this city has to offer, we will stick to our timetable and visit the four prominent UNESCO-listed World Heritage sites, where you will witness the blend of Buddhist and Hindu culture that is briefly explained below:

Pashupatinath Temple: Our first sightseeing experience in Kathmandu City will be the Pashupatinath Temple, situated along the peaceful banks of the Bagmati River. It is one of the holiest Hindu shrines on Earth, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Every Monday, this temple is crowded as Hindu devotees believe Lord Shiva is more easily pleased. So, prayers offered on this day of the week bring good fortune, peace, and blessings.

Similarly, only Hindus are permitted to enter the main pagoda-style temple. It is also known for its cremation ceremonies by the riverside, which remind one of the profound Hindu philosophy of life and rebirth. This temple is especially lively during Maha Shivaratri, as thousands of pilgrims from all around the world come to celebrate this special occasion.

Boudhanath Stupa: We will drive to the Boudhanath Stupa, located on the outskirts of Kathmandu. This stupa is a true symbol of Tibetan Buddhism. You will witness a white dome and the all-seeing eyes of Buddha painted on all four sides when circling it. There are numerous monasteries, local traders, and nice cafes surrounding this stupa.

You can walk in a clockwise way while spinning prayer wheels. There will also be many monks chanting chants and circling the stupa. After exploring, you can browse through stores selling prayer flags, jewelry, and other items.

Swayambhunath Temple: Our third UNESCO-listed World Heritage Site location is the Swayambhunath temple, situated at the top of the hill. The main attraction of this temple is the striking golden stupa, crowned with Buddha’s all-seeing eyes, which is believed to be watching peacefully over the Kathmandu Valley.

Another highlight of this temple is the sight of playful troops of monkeys roaming the grounds. This is why it is called Monkey Temple. Furthermore, you can take in the awe-inspiring panoramic views of Kathmandu Valley. After exploring this temple as part of our Short Nepal Bhutan Tour itinerary, we will head to the final destination to wrap up the sightseeing tour.

Kathmandu Durbar Square: It lies at the heart of old Kathmandu City, which was once the royal palace of the Malla Kings. There are many pagoda-style temples featuring beautiful wooden carvings on their exterior architecture. The main attractions of this place are Kasthamandap Temple, Taleju Bhawani Temple, Bhimeshwar Temple, and many more.

This place is a perfect destination that showcases the blend of history and modern life in a balanced way. After exploring Basantapur Durbar Square, we will drive you off to your hotel on this Nepal and Bhutan tour package.

Then, from Paro, we will drive to Thimphu, which takes about one and a half hours to reach the capital of Bhutan. During this drive, you can still soak in the beauty of the stunning mountains and valley views on this short Nepal-Bhutan tour itinerary. Similarly, our Bhutanese guide will share details about Bhutan’s culture and traditions while we travel to Thimphu.

The fourth day of the Short Nepal Bhutan Tour itinerary is dedicated to sightseeing the best available highlights of Thimphu City. We will set off on a private tour after having a mouthwatering breakfast in the hotel. Our vehicle will be waiting outside the hotel in the parking lot.

We will start our Thimphu sightseeing tour by first visiting the National Memorial Chorten, and where you will see a whitewashed stupa built in memory of the 3rd king of Bhutan, who is also known as the “Father of Modern Bhutan.” Following that, we will drive uphill to Changangkha Lhakhang, an old hilltop temple acclaimed for offering blessings to newborns in addition to providing sweeping views of the city.

Moving on, our next stop would be at Zilukha Nunnery (Drubthob Goemba), a tranquil monastic school specifically built for nuns, located on a hillside above Thimphu. From here, you can enjoy the beautiful vista of Tashichho Dzong from the top, which looks magical. After this, we will drive straight to Tashichho Dzong, a grand monastery renowned for housing the king’s offices and the central monastic body.

Next, we will visit the Institute of Traditional Medicine, where Bhutanese healing practices are preserved and taught. You can also learn how herbs and spiritual practices are integrated into Bhutanese healthcare. Then, after a short drive from here, we will reach the Folk Heritage Museum.

In this museum, there is an exhibition presenting Bhutanese village culture for you to experience in person. We will continue with our sightseeing adventure that is on this short Nepal Bhutan tour package, and we will head over to the Craft Bazaar.

Then we will stop in order to eat some lunch and browse in the local shops that are there. Our sightseeing trip is now finally concluded in Thimphu at the Buddha Dordenma Statue. There you can admire a massive golden Buddha that is 51 meters high, quite famous for its serene atmosphere.

Finally, after enjoying a full-day sightseeing tour in Thimphu on this day of the 7-day Short Nepal Bhutan Tour itinerary, we will drive back to Paro by road. Upon arrival, you can take a good nap after enjoying a relaxing dinner for tomorrow’s thrilling day.

Day 05: Day Hike to Tiger Nest (Taktsang Monastery).

On this fifth day of the Nepal Bhutan tours adventure, you will be traveling to one of the most anticipated highlights of this journey. This will be the most challenging day compared to other days in your itinerary, as you will be hiking today to the Paro Taktsang, which is also famously known as Tiger’s Nest Monastery.
It is called Tiger’s Nest Monastery because, according to Bhutanese legend, Guru Padmasambhava (also known as Guru Rinpoche) flew to this cliffside location on the back of the flying tigress. The tigress, believed to be one of his consorts, took the form of a flying tigress to carry him to the high cliff where Paro Taktsang is.

Then, Guru Rinpoche meditated in a cave for three months, defeating harmful forces to bring calm and protection to this troubled place, making a sacred site for spiritual practice. This monastery is situated at a height of 900 meters above the valley. We will begin the hike early in the morning to enjoy a crowd-free experience on this day of the Short Nepal Bhutan Tour itinerary.

While hiking, you should wear sturdy hiking shoes, a hat, and comfortable clothes. We will hike, traversing winding trails lined with pine forests, stone steps, and meadows. While traveling, you can enjoy panoramic views of the Paro Valley, snow-capped mountains, and cliffside beauty.

After ascending Tiger’s Nest Monastery, you can explore the sacred complex, see the unique architecture, and enjoy the peaceful, spiritual atmosphere. You can visit several temple chambers, shrines, and sacred caves where Guru Rinpoche meditated.

Apart from this, you can light butter lamps and offer silent prayers or wishes. Then, we will descend and get back to the hotel in Paro. You can have a well-deserved rest and reflect on today’s short Nepal Bhutan tour itinerary, memories, and beautiful moments.

Day 06: Fly from Paro to Kathmandu.

On this sixth day of the Short Nepal Bhutan Tour adventure, we will be leaving Bhutan after having a mouth-devouring breakfast at the hotel. Then, our Bhutanese guide will drive us to the Paro Airport for our flight back to Kathmandu. You can indulge yourself by admiring the bird’s-eye view of Paro Valley’s carpet-green floors, the snowy white peaks of the Himalayas hanging at the border, and emerald hills from your flight window at the height of your flight from Paro to Kathmandu.

When we land at Kathmandu Airport, a representative from Himalayan Adventure Treks will arrive in a private vehicle to transfer us to the hotel, thus completing the Short Nepal Bhutan Tour. You will have time to rest and then explore the areas in Kathmandu Valley that you haven’t yet visited.

Other places to visit include Bhaktapur, known as the City of Bricks, and historical sites such as Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square, which are well-preserved and still complete with traditional architecture and the energy of antiquity, leaving you in awe. Trip Information

Best Time

The short Nepal Bhutan tour is manageable in any season of the year. However, it depends on your preference, as each season offers something different and new in Bhutan and Nepal. Below are the four distinct seasons that you can choose to travel in, each of which is explained below.

Spring Season: Spring is one of the finest seasons to explore the Himalayas and enjoy the colorful surroundings. In Nepal, you can experience mild weather with excellent visibility of the breathtaking snow-clad mountains. Whether you’re trekking or just sightseeing at the UNESCO sites in Nepal, the experience will be amazing.

Similarly, you can expect temperatures ranging from 13 to 25 degrees Celsius in Bhutan, accompanied by pleasant weather conditions. However, the climate can be chilly in the high elevations. The spring season is ideal for a short Nepal Bhutan tour package to witness the bloom of vibrant rhododendrons that paint the environment with stunning shades.

Autumn Season: After spring, autumn or fall is an excellent season for the Nepal and Bhutan tour package. You can expect clear skies with mild temperatures, offering beautiful views of landscapes, which is best for sightseeing in Kathmandu and Thimphu. However, you may still experience a few leftover monsoon showers, which make the environment cooler and fresher, providing a comfortable travel experience.

In autumn, major festivals like Dashain and Tihar fall in Nepal, whereas some vibrant festivals of Bhutan, such as Paro Tshechu and Thimphu Tshechu, fall in this season. The festivals of both countries also attract thousands of visitors from every nook and cranny of the world.

Winter Season: The winter or cold season is also an ideal time to travel for the Short Nepal Bhutan Tour adventure in Nepal. Since you’re not traveling to high altitudes in Nepal, Kathmandu is suitable to visit in winter. The days can still be pleasantly warm, making it ideal for sightseeing.

Likewise, in Bhutan, major towns like Thimphu, Punakha, and Paro have a temperature range of 8 to 17 degrees Celsius, making nights and mornings a bit colder. However, during the daytime, the weather is dry and sunny, similar to Kathmandu, Nepal. The main benefit of traveling on the Short Nepal Bhutan Tour in winter is that you will enjoy a peaceful experience at significant sites, allowing you to appreciate the beauty of both countries without the heavy crowds.

Monsoon Season: The rainy or monsoon season is the least favored time for Nepal and Bhutan tours due to frequent heavy rainfall, warm temperatures, and high humidity. So, this season is also the off-season for tourism in Nepal and Bhutan. You will need to be prepared if you plan to travel this season.

The bright side of this season is that after the rain, you can experience the fresh and vibrant landscapes with stunning vistas when the clouds are clear. Even though this season comes with various challenges, the landscapes are uniquely rewarding and beautiful. If you’re lucky, you might catch lovely rainbows, which feels truly unbelievable.

Difficulty and altitude sickness

The short Nepal Bhutan tour is a leisurely and rewarding experience that suits all travelers regardless of their age and fitness level. Almost all destinations in Nepal and Bhutan require private transportation. However, the challenging part of this trip is hiking to Tiger’s Nest Monastery, which is the highest point of this getaway.

You will need to climb steep stairs to reach the top of the monastery. If you don’t have basic fitness, then walking to the top might be very tiring for you. Therefore, it is advisable to prepare and do some exercises to ensure a smooth trip without any troubles.

While the risk of altitude sickness on this short Nepal Bhutan tour is very low, it is still advisable to understand and take simple precautions if you are not accustomed to high altitudes. Another thing to keep in mind is packing smartly according to the weather conditions.

If you are visiting during the winter season, be sure to pack warm, comfortable clothing such as jackets, scarves, gloves, and trousers. However, if you are traveling during the rainy season, be sure to pack raincoats, boots, and an umbrella. If you are not well-prepared while traveling, it becomes difficult for you.

Maximum and minimum walk per day

The walking hours you can look forward to on every given day are a result of the varying activity levels on the short Nepal Bhutan tour. During the sightseeing days in Kathmandu and Thimphu, the walking time is usually around 1 to 3 hours, covering a short distance but with plenty of rest stops.

The distance that you will be walking is the most challenging part of the Tiger’s Nest hike, which takes 4 to 6 hours, both for going up and coming down. Such moderate stages are typical of days during which travel is limited to a minimum extent, i.e., to and from airports and hotels, with a maximum of one hour of walking.

Accommodation, Food and Drink

Both Bhutan and Nepal offer a mix of traditional guesthouses, mid-range hotels, and deluxe hotels. Himalayan Adventure Treks gives you the flexibility to choose your preferred accommodation. The more upgrades you choose, the more additional cost is incurred in your Short Nepal Bhutan Tour package.

Regardless of the type of accommodation you choose, each stay will be very comfortable, offering the cultural charm of its respective country. Both Nepalese and Bhutanese hotels are renowned for their exceptional hospitality, which sets them apart from hotels in other countries.

Hotels are cozy and well-equipped with modern amenities, offering 24/7 services. In Thimphu and Paro, you will find accommodations that reflect authentic Bhutanese design, featuring wooden interiors and traditional decor. The special thing about this Short Nepal Bhutan Tour is that the lodging and food will become part of your unforgettable memories.

Aside from this, both Bhutan and Nepal offer rich culinary experiences rooted in their cultural norms and values. In Nepal, you can try the typical staple dish daal bhat, which is very nutritious and healthy. Similarly, Thakali cuisine, momos, thukpas, Newari Khaja sets, Yomari, and others are popular dishes.

Moving on to Bhutanese dishes, the must-try cuisines are Ema Datshi, which is also the national dish of Bhutan and is cooked with chilies and cheese. Similarly, other popular dishes include Phaksa Paa (pork with radish and chilies), Jasha Maru (a spicy chicken stew), Bhutanese red rice, and many more.

A typical day in Short Nepal Bhutan Tour

Your short Nepal and Bhutan tour starts with breakfast at the hotel of your choice, followed by a day of exploring the local sites. In Nepal, you will be guided by a local expert who will take you to the must-visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites, such as the Swayambhunath Stupa or Pashupatinath Temple, and enrich you with the history and spirituality of the city.

Then, have some time off to step into the colorful local market area or simply savor your moments in one of the cafes. While visiting Bhutan, the day is likely to include a drive offering a picturesque view of Thimphu or a visit to culturally significant places, such as the National Memorial Chorten or the Buddha Dordenma.

A delightful and leisurely meal, a photo session, and the opportunity to meet some kind and welcoming people can all combine to provide a very soothing walking meditation experience. Generally, in the evenings, you are free to relax, recuperate, or visit surrounding stores before enjoying a substantial supper at the hotel.

On a short Nepal Bhutan tour vacation, each day allows you to immerse yourself in the culture, take in the natural beauty, and create important connections while embarking on a journey.

Private Trip vs Group Trip

Our company, Himalayan Adventure Treks, offers both private and group trips as part of this Short Nepal Bhutan Tour package. However, whether it’s a private trip or a group trip, the decision ultimately depends on your preference. Both trips have their own merits and demerits.

However, traveling in a group on this short Nepal Bhutan tour itinerary of one week is the best way to have a budget-friendly trip. When more people join the trip with you, the overall cost for each person goes down as expenses like guided services and transportation are shared.

Similarly, Bhutan also offers lower government fees for large groups of visitors. The drawback of the group trip is that you will have less privacy and attention, as the guide has to address each and every member of the group. On the other hand, a private trip guarantees you more privacy and comfort than the group trip.

The negative part of the private trip is that it is more expensive. Despite this, you will have a committed and private guide and vehicle, as well as a schedule that reflects your preferences. You can travel at your own pace and stop wherever you like while taking photographs.

In conclusion, regardless of which trip you choose on this short Nepal Bhutan tour, Himalayan Adventure Treks will strive to ensure your safety and meet your expectations throughout the journey.

Travel Insurance

When planning a short Nepal Bhutan tour, travel insurance should be a must-do on your list, for sure. The countries are located in a relatively secluded part of the world, with a deeply rooted culture, but indeed, anything unexpected can happen to anyone.

It is always a good idea to opt for a policy that provides comprehensive coverage for every aspect of the trip, from illness and mishaps to the most unexpected events, such as delayed flights or lost luggage. In Nepal, where healthcare availability is often limited, especially in rural areas, emergency medical coverage is a life-or-death factor for all.

On the other hand, if Bhutan has better infrastructure, something may still go wrong with a change in your travel schedule or a cancellation, and you will be the one to tackle these issues. Such a comprehensive insurance plan will certainly provide you with enough peace of mind when exploring the lands, including this short Nepal Bhutan tour excursion.

What to expect from this Nepal Bhutan short tour?

As soon as you touch down, you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel, followed by a guided tour through Kathmandu’s sacred center, which includes visits to Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Swayambhunath, and the Durbar Square.

Upper Mustang....trekking eccezionale Un trekking fantastico nell'Upper Mustang. Paesaggi sorprendenti, un'atmosfera unica in cui la maestosità delle montagne si affianca all'autenticità dei villaggi. Esperienza davvero consigliabile, soprattutto se vissuta con la guida di Badry. Grande professionalità e simpatia.

ABC trek - fantastic experience with Himalayan Adventure Himalayan trek and adventure (Bhagwat and team) were fantastic and provided a great service. They were great from our first communication and went beyond to help our adhoc requirements during the trip. Guide (Bharat) and our porter (Heera) were very helpful and took care of us when needed during the trek. I strongly recommend Bhagwat and team if anyone is looking for a reliable tour operator in Nepal.

I highly recommend this trekking tour! From the very beginning of the planning process, the travel agency was always responsive and patient in answering all of our questions. From the moment we arrived in Kathmandu, everything was well organized and ran smoothly without any unnecessary waiting. Every evening, we had a briefing that clearly explained what to expect the following day, which helped us prepare both mentally and physically for the trek. Both our guide and porter were incredibly friendly, attentive, and always willing to help us with any small issues along the way. Their support made the entire experience even more enjoyable. I truly recommend this ABC Trek to anyone looking to experience the breathtaking beauty of the Himalayas. It was an unforgettable journey!

Trip to Tibet & EBC ... Excellent ! The trip was divided into two destinations: Lhasa (Tibet) and Everest Base Camp in Nepal. The first thing to highlight is that thanks to Bhagwat, the owner of Himalayan Adventure, we organized all the travel details in advance: dates, hotels, contact with guides and drivers, flights, visas, departure and arrival times, itineraries in each city, meals, porters, helicopter, and ground and air transfers. We discussed and organized everything online almost two months beforehand, and... everything worked perfectly! Upon arrival in Kathmandu, our driver met us at the airport. We arrived at the hotel, located in the heart of the tourist area, and were greeted by Bhagwat himself. He gave us our visas and tickets to Tibet. From the air, we saw the majestic Himalayan mountain range, with breathtaking views of its peaks and valleys. In Tibet, we were met at the airport. After a long journey to Lhasa, we rested at the hotel. For the next three days, we were transported in a private van to various points of interest, including monasteries, the magnificent Potala Palace, restaurants, and city squares. Our guide provided comprehensive explanations of every aspect of life, culture, Buddhism, sacred sites, and history. We visited the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Drepung and Sera Monasteries, and took a trip to Yamdroke Lake. The hotel was very well located on Barkhor Street. And now… on to Everest and… a legendary flight to Lukla (all safe and sound). We met our guide and porter, Ang Pemba Sherpa and Ang Dorje Sherpa, excellent people and wonderful travel companions throughout our journey. For the next eight days, we trekked through breathtaking landscapes towards Phakding and Namche Bazaar, followed by longer climbs to Tangboche and Dingboche. At the heights of Lobuche and Gorakshep, we were short of breath, but thanks to our experienced guide, we overcame it. Finally, the long trek to base camp, through wind and snow – celebrations, hugs… an excellent experience. An incredible helicopter ride back to Lukla and then on to Kathmandu – everything went according to plan. It was a wonderful experience, and we are grateful for all the support and organization from Himalayan Adventure, Bhagwat (its owner), and all his team. Hugs to everyone, and until next time!

Highly recommended!!! COME COME COME 我! 非常喜歡💕 We absolutely loved this trip! We highly recommend everyone to come and experience it for yourselves! From the warm airport pickup to our first night at the hotel, the tour guide and the owner were incredibly welcoming. Every evening, they would brief us on the following day’s itinerary. For our domestic flight, the agency and our guide thoughtfully arranged seats with views of the Himalayas. Every transition during our commute went smoothly, and any administrative needs, such as currency exchange or access to filtered water, were met promptly and efficiently. During the six days in the mountains, we were taken care of by a highly professional guide who led us with great skill. Whenever any team member faced challenges, the guide provided immediate care and heartfelt encouragement. Our four porters were also incredibly professional and strong in their support of us. Of course, every step of the climb was a wonderful opportunity to converse with nature and ourselves. The moment we all successfully reached the summit was an indescribably moving experience! 🥹🥹🥹⛰️🏔️ You all must come and experience this in person! On our final night, the owner personally joined us for a wonderful farewell dinner. Throughout the entire journey, we could truly feel the dedication, care, and professionalism in every aspect of the agency's services. We loved it so much! 💕 Namaste & धन्यवाद (。・ω・。)ノ

anaporna circuit motorcycle tour Let me start by saying: this was easily one of the best experiences I’ve ever had on a motorcycle tour abroad. The organization, the route, our incredible guide, and the support crew (driver and mechanic)—everything was absolutely flawless!!! We were led by a local guide named Badri Karki, who was our lead rider. His guiding was warm, insightful, and it was obvious he has a massive love for Nepal and endless patience for the riders. We felt incredibly lucky to have him leading the pack. The bikes were top-notch and perfectly maintained. The crew took care of every single request to tweak the setups so they fit each rider perfectly. They ran maintenance checks twice a day, leaving nothing for us to do but just enjoy the twisties and the scenery. Any minor mechanical issue was sorted out quietly without delaying the group. It gave us an amazing sense of confidence and peace of mind knowing we were in such good hands. The route was spectacular! Nepal is breathtaking, and the Nepalese people are even more amazing. I want to say a huge thank you to [Company Name] for one of the most unique and beautiful riding trips of my life. Thank you! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

An unforgettable motorcycle adventure in Nepal Dear Himalayan Adventure Team, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks for an unforgettable motorcycle adventure in Nepal. This was a true motorcycle expedition—challenging, exciting, and incredibly rewarding. Every day brought new landscapes, winding mountain roads, and unforgettable experiences. A special thank you to our amazing guide, Badri Karki. Your professionalism, patience, kindness, and deep knowledge made this journey so much more than just a ride. Thank you to Simkhada Bhagwat, the owner of Himalayan Adventure, for organizing such an outstanding trip. Everything was well planned, from the beautiful accommodations to the incredible route. One of the absolute highlights was visiting and staying in the villages of Upper Mustang. Experiencing the local culture and spending nights there was something I will never forget. Thank you for creating memories that will stay with me for a lifetime. With sincere appreciation, Daniel Israel
